At MK Counseling, we understand that recovery is more than a decision; it’s a journey, one that requires continued support, resilience, and self-discovery. That’s why we’re excited to introduce Roots in Recovery, a bi-weekly group specifically designed for individuals who are already committed to a sober lifestyle. Whether you’re looking to deepen your understanding of yourself, find a supportive community, or explore life beyond addiction, Roots in Recovery is here to help.
Who is Roots in Recovery For?
Roots in Recovery is a unique group tailored for individuals who are maintaining their sobriety and seeking a space to grow beyond the challenges of addiction. This group is specifically for those who are already in recovery, not actively using substances. We want to ensure a safe, supportive, and productive environment where everyone can engage fully in discussions, activities, and personal growth. Sobriety is required at each session, allowing members to focus entirely on building a solid foundation for lasting recovery.
The group is open to anyone in the community, not only current clients of MK Counseling. This inclusive approach allows for a richer sharing of experiences and insights as people from all backgrounds come together to grow and support one another.
What You Can Expect at Roots in Recovery
Starting November 18th, Roots in Recovery will meet every other Monday at 5 PM, providing a consistent, supportive space where members can explore various aspects of life beyond addiction. Each 1-hour session is designed to foster a deeper sense of connection, purpose, and resilience. With a group size limited to 5-12 members, we can ensure a focused and personal experience for everyone involved.
Our facilitators, Alicia and Dylan, will guide the group through a variety of meaningful topics, including:
• Focusing on Progress – Recognizing personal milestones and setting intentions for the future
• Identifying Triggers and Strengthening Coping Mechanisms – Learning to navigate challenges and build healthy habits
• Overcoming Guilt and Shame – Moving toward self-acceptance, forgiveness, and healing
• Mindfulness and Gratitude – Embracing the present and finding joy in daily life
• Exploring Identity Beyond Addiction – Redefining oneself and discovering passions, goals, and relationships outside of addiction
• SMART Goals for Lasting Change – Developing realistic, achievable plans for personal growth
These topics are selected to address not only the practical aspects of maintaining sobriety but also the emotional and psychological challenges that can accompany recovery. The sessions are interactive and collaborative, providing a safe space to explore, share, and learn together.
Why Join a Recovery Group?
Recovery is a journey best taken with support, and Roots in Recovery offers a community where members can feel seen, heard, and understood. In the group, you’ll find others who understand the highs and lows of recovery, the joys of small victories, and the challenges of daily commitment. Roots in Recovery is more than a group; it’s a space to build relationships, find inspiration, and embrace the journey of recovery fully.
Research shows that group support can be a powerful factor in maintaining long-term sobriety. Being part of a group allows individuals to share experiences, gain new perspectives, and receive encouragement and accountability. In Roots in Recovery, you’re not just another participant; you’re a valued member of a close-knit, supportive community.
