About Joe
As a Licensed Professional Counselor with nearly 10 years of experience, I specialize in helping individuals navigate anxiety, OCD, and depression, as well as other more general mental health concerns using evidence-based approaches tailored to each person’s unique needs and goals. I mainly work with adults and older adolescents, and I have a history of working with incarcerated and justice-involved clients. My therapeutic work is grounded primarily in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Exposure Therapy—approaches that have demonstrated significant effectiveness in treating these conditions.
I have received considerable training and maintain continuous supervision in ACT to help me do the best I can for my clients. Additionally, I’ve completed training and education in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Metacognitive Therapy (MCT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI), allowing me to draw from multiple evidence-based frameworks to best support your unique needs. I’m committed to continued education in the field to stay current with the latest research and therapeutic approaches.
I believe that therapy works best when you feel genuinely safe and understood. My approach centers on creating a compassionate, non-judgmental space where you can explore difficult thoughts and feelings without fear of criticism. I view our work together as a collaboration, where your autonomy and personal values guide the direction of treatment. You are the expert on your own life, and my role is to support you in building the skills and confidence to move toward what matters most to you.
Whether you’re struggling with persistent worry, intrusive thoughts, compulsive behaviors, panic attacks, a loss of interest in life, or are just generally feeling stuck, I work alongside you to develop practical strategies that create meaningful change. Through ACT, we’ll focus on accepting what’s outside your control while taking committed action toward your values. When appropriate, we’ll use exposure-based techniques to help you face fears in a gradual, supportive way.
Above all, I’m committed to understanding your experience from your perspective and creating a therapeutic relationship built on trust, respect, and genuine care for your wellbeing. My goal is to help you not just manage symptoms, but to live a rich, meaningful life aligned with what you truly value.
If you’re ready to take the next step, I’d be honored to work with you.
